It seems like everyone has gone health nut crazy these days. Gluten free foods, diets, gyms, health clubs and vegan diets are just a few of the many things that people are doing to increase their physical well-being. One of the most common ways that people are improving their cardio-respiratory system and overall health is through cycling.
Cycling Provides an Easy Way to Improve Your Health
There are many benefits you can get by simply jumping on your bike and going for a ride. The biggest of these is that you improve your cardio-respiratory system. cycling improves and strengthens your heart and makes blood flow through your body more efficiently. This improves the flow of oxygen through the body and makes for the overall health of the body to improve.
Cycling also releases a great amount of endorphins into the body which makes you feel a whole lot better. Endorphins are nature’s natural feel good chemical that are released when a person exercises. Cycling not only makes you feel better about yourself and improves your health, it also simply makes you feel better through these endorphins.
If you are looking to lose weight, then cycling is a big one to help you accomplish this. The action of cycling, the pumping of your heart, and the work of your muscles makes it so that energy is needed to perform all of these functions. Most people do not take in enough calories daily to be able to accomplish these tasks, so the fat that is stored in the body is needed to help provide that needed fuel. This leads to the fat being burned off and the person losing weight.
Just as a note, it is important to change your riding pattern after a few weeks. What I mean is that if you are riding for 30 minutes a day every day, you will see the pounds burn off at first, but as your body adjusts to this pattern those pounds will no longer be shed. You can still ride 30 minutes a day, but vary the workout. One day do little sprints, where you go as fast as you can for a minute and then ride restfully for the next two. Do this ten times. Then the next day keep a quick steady pace. Your body will not adjust to this and you will burn the calories.
Even if you are not riding to lose weight, cycling is a great way to tone up your muscles, especially within your legs. The action of cycling requires a lot of work in your leg muscles and – surprisingly – within your core muscles. By riding on a regular basis, when you go to work or college, you can make your legs look absolutely amazing in no time at all.
The loss of weigh, the toning of your muscles and the improvement on your cardi0vascular system is going to make you feel better about yourself. This is an added benefit of cycling. Health experts have discovered that feeling better about yourself actually improves your overall health, which is another benefit you get from cycling.
