Happy Black Friday! I am sure many of you are (or have) headed out to the shops over the past few days to grab those bargains before Christmas. 30% off…50% off…even us at Valley Leisure are offering a deal today. And it’s not over yet; Cyber Monday is in a few days which means even more buying time for busy shoppers to get that perfect little black dress off the shelf or in the online basket.
But due to high demand over this busy weekend, maybe the perfect dress you just HAD to buy is a bit like the Grinch’s heart. A few sizes too small. Fear not! We have some yummy recipes and tips to help you fit into that little back dress.
One of the best pieces of advice we can give you is to exercise. The recommended amount of physical activity for adults is 150 minutes a week, which can be broken down into 30 minute segments. The NHS website suggests that you combine muscle strengthening activities with high intensity, aerobic exercises (from dance to power walking) to get a full body workout each week.
Alongside exercising, you need to eat a balanced diet. We know it is Christmas and that box of sweets in the office isn’t going to eat itself, but if you want to stand out at this season’s parties you’ve got to be sensible with your eating; we suggest you try Superfoods. Superfoods may sound like the name of a knock of superhero film, but they do have high amounts of nutrients that have an effect on areas such as anti-aging and disease prevention. Some examples of superfoods are oily fish, berries (which double up as an antioxidant) and plenty of vegetables.
The NHS suggests that you try a Mediterranean style diet which is both delicious and nutritious! This includes:
- Eating more fruit and vegetables
- Eating fish over meat
- Choosing products made from vegetables and plant oils (such as olive oil)
- Eating bread and pasta (in moderation)
